What is ELDOA™?

ELDOA™ is a spine-strengthening and decompression method, developed by French osteopath, Dr. Guy VOYER, DO.

The spinal ELDOA use myofascial chains to decompress the spine and open the facet joints, allowing for better nervous system functioning throughout the body.  Other ELDOA postures open the hips, shoulder girdle, and rib cage.

What is an ELDOA class like?

In a group ELDOA class, you’ll be guided through a series of postures, stretches, and movements to foster strength and mobility throughout the body.

Don’t be fooled – it’s a workout!  But after all that work, it’s like a giant sigh of relief for the body!  By the end of a class, participants feel relaxed, taller, and more expansive in their bodies.  Movement becomes more efficient and fluid.

Sheri

I have spent much of my life practicing (and in pursuit of) good movement.  My journey went from competitive dance, to training dancers, coaching rock climbing, and mountain biking. Over the years, I took courses in Kinesiology, dance studies, Shiatsu, Eastern Medical Theory, and eventually SomaTraining (ELDOA and the methods of Guy VOYER, DO) and Pilates.

My aim as an instructor is for people to leave the class feeling physically, mentally, and emotionally reinforced.  Fascia is the unifying fabric of the body.  Methods such as Pilates, ELDOA™, Myofascial Stretching, and Global Postural Stretching can profoundly affect the fascia. We can use specialized exercises like these to train and reorganize our fascia, thereby fixing local and global movement issues.

As an ELDOA™ Teacher Trainer in Canada, I am able to offer courses in Levels 1 + 2 for those who wish to teach the method or understand it at a deeper level.  Although I have mountains to learn in this field, I deeply value (and enjoy!) sharing and exchanging information related to movement, fascia and anatomy.

Certifications as of 2023: Pilates mat & equipment | ELDOA™ (Level 4) | Myofascial Stretching | Global Postural Stretching | Strengthening for the Abdominal Wall & Thoracic Diaphragm | Neuro-Flexibility.

Sarah

Sarah began practicing ELDOA and Pilates in 2007, while completing her professional training in contemporary dance at The School of Toronto Dance Theatre.

She completed her classical Pilates teacher training at Inhabit Pilates & Movement (Toronto), with further courses at Pilates Process and Body Harmonics.  She is a certified Myofascial Stretching and ELDOA™ Level 3 instructor.
In her teaching, Sarah seeks to help students deepen their awareness of their bodies in a supportive environment, while challenging them to go further.

Janine

Originally trained as a dancer, Janine was one of the original four Canadian Pilates teachers, training under Diane Miller in the late 1980s. In 2013 she discovered the ELDOA method through Carolyn Woods and went on to certify as a trainer with Rucsandra Mitrea and Guy VOYER, DO.  She is excited to be a part of the Twilight Stretching team!
